Adobe Reader (formally Adobe Acrobat Reader) is completely free and is the global standard for viewing and printing information. PDF documents are a widely used way to present information in a fixed layout much like in print publication.

(Note that Adobe Reader does not allow you to edit PDF files, though certain PDF files have special input boxes in them that you can enter information. Editing PDF files requires other software outside of Reader)
